In a very competitive environment, the University of Portsmouth was struggling to stand out and be noticed by its target audience. The educational institution needed a strong, striking and above all, contemporary visual design system and photography to attract prospective students and create a sense of excitement around the uni.
The new corporate identity created was based around a bold visual element called the Horizon Line. This celebrated Portsmouth and the university’s historic coastal location, and evoked the optimism and anticipation of an exciting educational journey.
As part of the rebrand, comprehensive brand guidelines were also devised to guide the in-house design team on the usage and application of the Horizon Line across all media and channels.
